I HAVE A NEW BOAT!!!

For those of you who hadn't heard, my beloved Wavesport EZG 50 developed a crack last week and had to be warrantied. I had only owned it for 10 months, so there were no problems. Four days later I received a new boat (thank you Lonny @ Mountain Goat!). The best part is, because the EZG was discontinued earlier this year, I received the newer, better, awesomer, smarter, and more handsome version: the Wavesport Fuse 48! I was worried about the color--I didn't get to choose and I would have hated to get puke green or something. But, my new boat is beautiful sunshine yellow just like my beloved old one! Photos are below.

Also, just a side note: Captain Awesome and I have been keeping a written log for the past year to track all of our river time, but just yesterday we finally ran out of space in the dang thing. So we've decided to start an online version. I am sure no one will find this an interesting read other than the two of us, but nevertheless, if you want to follow along with our crazy whitewater adventures, The River Log is the place to find us.

I’m happy for you and your new boat, really. But you do realize you've done four and a half entries IN A ROW about water-related sport? What happened to “This blog is mainly concerned with science, politics, current events…”? :)

Well said, Jaima. Also, isn't there some sort of superstition about black cats and yellow boats crossing paths? Better watch out the next time you use it--it may develop more than a crack....

By the way, there is a fish on your wall.

You know, I really expected that all of this time off over the summer would stimulate my intellect but in fact so far all I have to show for myself is a sun burn, a ton of bug bites, and some mad kayaking skills. Can you really blame me for blogging only about the latter??

And here I was about to post photos from my backcountry canoe trip, but I wouldn't want to have FIVE posts in a row about paddlesports, so too bad, no photos for you. :)

Troy, it's not a REAL fish.

(sigh)

Okay. One more paddle-post (I would like to see your pictures) but then get back to the science, politics and current events. :)

And hilarious dancing....

Just out of curiosity, how long are you and Captain Awesome planning on living in Spokane? It's up there on Laura's and my list of places to live starting next summer when I'm done w/ dental school. Depends on the job search, though....

We are planning on being here indefinitly. I have another year and a half of grad school to go, then we could be free to move if we wanted, but all our friends are here. We aren't against moving somewhere new, but we are pretty attached to this place. I absolutly love Spokane. I am sure you kids would love it as well. Would love to have you around! Keep in mind, too, that living costs are much lower over here. We pay only $395/month for our fabulous appartment (1.5 bedrooms).
