43 Things

Thanks to Jaima and Claudia for tipping me off to this website: www.43things.com. It’s basically a site that gets you thinking about your lifelong goals. You create a life list (“bucket list” is the term currently in vogue), then track your progress. You can also connect with other people who have similar goals and find out how they went about or are going about achieving them. The site isn’t perfect—I was annoyed that I couldn’t search for another specific user; you can only search for other goals—but it is fun and thought-provoking. If you decide to sign up (it’s free, of course), let me know and I will follow your progress. Or, feel free to leave some of your own life goals in the comments.

Here is my list so far:

See Bruce Springsteen in concert
Complete a Master’s degree
Learn to dance
Visit all 50 states
Become a solid Class III whitewater kayaker
Live in a foreign country for at least 3 months
Learn to scuba dive and dive the world’s best reefs and ship wrecks
Go whale watching
Summit a big mountain
See Africa—including the wilder parts
Write a book
Explore South and Central America
Volunteer more for the environment

I can tick one of those. Two, if you count "cook more international cuisine."

IR: So...which one can you tick?

Oops! I forgot to say... I've lived in a foreign country for more than 3 months (Japan: 2 years). Twice, really, if you count my two+ years and counting in Canada.

Can tick...
Learning to dance (Sean and I took Ballroom dance before our wedding, though I have subsequently forgotten everything I learned except how to waltz)
planted a garden a few times
and I learned to knit before I got married, but I forgot how to do that too.
and I am so close to writing that book I can taste it!

As to some goal I would like to achieve I think I will head over to the website and make my own list!

So let me know when you're ready to knock out the organize-your-pictures one. I'd love to help (how sick am I?). :)

I think I got my list to like 16 and that was about it. One of my items was to pierce my face (septum, which I'm sure my mother would hate), and then, probably the grandest one of all, to train to look like a bodybuilder. That last one obviously hasn't happened.

Jaima--I was hoping you'd offer assistance. But I think you will break down and cry when you see the state of things :).

Claudia--There are some trustworthy piercing places in Spokane you could check out:). I thought about adding "get a tattoo" to my list, but I am just not sure. Now that both my sisters have tattoos, it seems more rebellious *not* to get one!
